Feeling Blue...

Unfortunately I've been out of the loop for almost 1 year now, I have been too busy working to really get my hands dirty, but It's always there, just on the edge of my mind, waiting to get out.
Thank you to all who have been looking for me, I truly apprieciate that. Now that the Day Job is slowing down, just a little I hopefully can get back to my ol' self and get some things moving again...I do have a few things going on over at The Morsel, so check it out in about a week or so, and I do have some Christmas things in the works, but it is moving slowly.
I havent forgot about you gals over at Etsy Cottage Style, I go over and take a peek every once and a while, just for some inspiration and daydream time...

I have been up to no good of course, not paying any attention to my clay, its just getting hard down in the studio :(
I have been neglecting my new business adventure that is Black Kat, only to be on the Motorcycle!!!
I know, I know, I should be responsible, and follow through with ALL my obligations, but I'm sorry I cant, when I'm not at the day job (yuck) I am on the bike, I.. have become addicted, I cant help it, all I want to do is go places on the bike, and I totally blame this cutie, Yes, Thats my Hubby, BUT its now his fault that I am now a biker!! I absolutely LOVE it, and I am hooked, the more I ride the better I'm getting, so Thank You, Mark!! Yay!! One of these days, (I suppose when its raining) I can get back to doing whatever it is I should be re: responsibilities and then back on the bike!!

Where has the time gone???

Hello all!! I cant believe its the first day of Spring already, this marks the beginning of a really busy weekend for us, Tomorrow is mine and the Hubby's wedding anniversary, (Let's see if he remembers) its 12 years and we usually go away for the weekend sometime throughout the year.
Then its my oldest son's B-day on Sunday!! 14 whew! How fast did that go??? He doesn't need me anymore and knows everything there is to know about life, so I guess my job is done WHEW!! That only took 14 years, I must be good!! Ha, Ha LOL!!!
In all seriousness, it does go by too fast, so if any of you out there have little ones, PLEASE take advantage of this time right now, they are only babies for such a short time, and pretty soon, they become teens, it is much harder than I thought, and I now know how right my Mother was. I say that more and more these days...
Now to change the subject...
I am embarking on new and exciting adventure, Opening my own baking business, after all I do know my way around the kitchen (Day Job) and baking is a secret passion of mine, that has been dying to get out for a few years now.
I have all the Business licences filed and the DBA paperwork is done, I am starting small setting up shop at our local farmers market every Saturday during the summer, it is going to be hard with keeping the dredded day job, but... anything worth doing is hard right?? I think this is exactly what I need to be doing and that is a good feeling!!
Next, I am going to change up the blog a little bit or even start a new one dedicated to the business,I will begin next week on one of my days off, I most likely will be starting another blog, named after the business, but I will reveal that when I finally get my ducks or should I say cookies in a row!!

Found this little beauty at Teamsugar, its a pretty cool site, I dont go there often, but I thought this was pretty inspiring!!!
Thats all for now, still looking forward to a swap I've entered for Easter, and I will be back from time to time, my inner artist comes out to play once in a while so I will post whatever I am up to with that, oh yeah and also I will be setting up a lot of cool art kits in my Etsy shop soon, I need to destash a little bit, so I will be keeping yall up to date with that too!! Whew!! I better get movin'!!

Love is in the Air...

Hello to all, I havent been on since before Christmas but I wanted to make sure when I came on to post it was about something and not just the usual update to let you know I was still alive but feeling uninspired Blah,blah,blah!!
I have been working on putting two Valentine Swaps together, and I think they came out really cute!! I'm not really the Valentine type, I mean the Hubby and I dont really get each other anything and I dont really care weather I get candy and roses or not. We like to get each other things and do things for each other throughout the whole year, so Feb. 14 is just another day in Love...... (yuck right??)
To be honest with you I have been feeling very uninspired lately and I suppose its just a case of the January Blues, I get them every year an then something happens, I dont know if its the anticipation of Spring, or the Birdhouse out side my Kitchen window, or maybe even that the days seem to be getting a little longer, I start to feel antsy to Create something!! I believe Thumper called it "Twitterpated".
I will be working a lot the next few weeks and getting all my ideas together for a new blog I have been wanting to create but never made a priority also getting so many of the projects I have started but never finished!!
Here are some photos of the little Valentine Boxes I made for the swaps, I did one for PWGL and Jeanne called it "eye Candy" so I took that idea and went with it I think they came out fabulous, and they are low in fat and have 0 calories!!

I altered 2 actual candy boxes with really pretty scrapbook papers and glass glitter...

Then I filled the little paper baking cups with all of my favorite pink and red Valentiny kinds of "eyecandy".

Buttons,Beads,Baubles,Ribbon,Paper Flowers,Pom Poms,and even some little Vintage Crystal Hearts made their way into there!!

Vintage Inspiration!

Scouring through Flea Markets, Digging my way through old junk shops,Finding bargoons at my favorite antique shops, These are a few of my favorite things...
I've really had a hard time lately with finding inspiration for the Holidays, I dont know if its cause' I'm at the ol' day job way too much or the days are so damn short I wake up to dark and come home at night, or maybe a little of both. BUT I have found some light by way of Sparkley,Shiny, Old Vintage Rhinestones, and Buttons!!
Oh how I do love the hunt for something wheather it be in one of my favorite shoppes, or even on ebay, I cant seem to find enough of these long forgotten little pieces of treasure!! I really should have better photos, of these and maybe I will, I'm taking a trip to the Antique Barn on Sunday with my Sisters, so I hope to get pics there as well, If they let me...
For about 10 years now I've had a collection of old antique bottles, I've always liked them, I pick them up here and there with the thought of altering them, or even one summer I filled them with homemade bubble potion and made hand made bubble wands! Those were cool, But I always wanted to make angels out of them and fill them with pretty treasures, and low and behold Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine Beat me to it with Snowmen!! But thats ok, Mine are much prettier!
I dont have them done, BUT the collection of treasures has been collected, the vintage pom pom fringe and chenille bumps has been dug out, and I even have some really pretty wings to put on them.... Here are some of the jewelry finds I have...

These Buttons are just Beautiful!! And truly Antique, I found the same ones goin on ebay for WAY more than I paid for them!! The 2 on the left hand side are really pretty snowflake clip earrings!! LOVE THEM!!!

Earrings like my Mom and Mayma used to wear when I was little and I used to watch my Mother get ready to go out! I remember liking the smell of her perfume :)

Crown Pin with some missing stones, But I liked it anyway!! I'm sure if I owned a crown, it would have a few stones missing!

Look how pretty these pearl earrings are!! And check out the pretty little loose Rhinestone buttons are I found 6 of those on ebay, They are goin to be hard to part with!

One Serious Post...

In Light of What has just happened to my Country I have to say what I am feeling, I feel it is something that is felt by millions...
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of my country, for the first time, I actually cried when I voted, and I actually cried when I heard my President speak!, I feel so proud right now, You may not agree with all of President Obama's policies, or with his tax plans, blah, blagh, blagh, But here is the reason he is the one, He stands for PEACE, He wants to end this horrible war we shouldnt be fighting, and He wants to bring home our troops :) They deserve to come home to be with their families, and to know they have a President and Country that is Proud of them.
One more thing, To know that as a country we voted for a Black Man, an African American Man, is so Important, I dont think I even can begin to understand how much this is going to change things, and to the prejudice people I even know in my family Shame On You for not understanding How Important this really is, Shame On YOu for voting for John McCain because of no other reason that Obama is a Black Man!! Shame On You for not seeing the bigger picture because of your narrow mindedness!!
OK I'm Done, I feel better, and prouder, and Happy :)

Better late than never I always say!! I don't have an excuse other than I wasn't ready until today!!
When I woke up at the ass crack of dawn this morning I was inspired to write a little Halloween poem, The Moon was still awake and there was frost all over which made it eerily foggy and pretty outside, So, in my warm PJ's and sipping the first of many cups of coffee I wrote this little number, I thought it turned out pretty nice...

Hey All,
Lately I've been so busy I haven't had time to do any writing, but I did manage to get my fairy done for the swap!! She is so cute!! I named her Pricilla, after my swap partner...

I made her out of paper clay over wire armature, then she is painted,sanded,painted some more,sealed, and then dressed! I really love how she turned out!! Her hair is made from yarn of course,and she has little undies made from really pretty vintage looking lace, I have more to come they will be going in my etsy shop, along with some Halloween items I've been DYING to get my hands dirty making!! That's all for now ,I hope Pricilla enjoys her new home, and arrives there safely!!

AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I just had to get this off my chest!! I'm really trying to get myself out there as an artist and trying to "network" and do all that kind of stuff, but it seems to me that e-bay (which by the way does get the most traffic) makes it hard to communicate on purpose!! Does anyone out there in Blogland understand me??? Does anyone share the same grief??? (picture Charlie Browns rants and screaming here) I tried to post photos, nope, turned out all dark and ugly, I tried to find anyone to answer my questions on the matter, Nope, couldn't get an answer, I really am finding out Bigger is Not better :( PRAISE to Etsy and its creators. They make it so EASY, I will try to give e-bay another chance but I am finding them awfully stubborn, any comments on this matter would be appreciated!

Hey There !! Just wanted to post a few pics of the new collage I've been working on.
She started out wearing a soft purple raincoat then I took her to the store and totally changed her look!!I also made a few atc's to match (those are so fun) I will be putting her in the Etsy shop as soon as she's done, I think I need to highlight the crystal raindrops with some white paint and glitter!! Now that she's finished I can begin work on the Vintage Beach Cottage Swap!! I have a whole bunch of ideas for that now I need to sort them and put them together!!

Hey It's been a while since I've been here to post, I've been busy on the Etsy Cottage blog site, running swaps and talking to all my friends over there, I've also been busy with the day job working as much OT as possible since the hubby is still out on strike :( . Say a little prayer for him, he is so patient and I know it bothers him but he holds it in, any hoo, ... I have found time to clean out the studio space in the basement and get my art studio started :) I'm soooooooo excited, I dont have to take up kitchen space any more, my family can actually eat at the kitchen table soon, :) and I can get going on a lot of projects I've been wanting to do for EVER !!
I really need to start posting my pics of the art work I've been managing to get done, literally between 3 and 5 in the morning, ( God bless you Mom ) Some of it is sold, but not all of it, also, a few posts back I talked about getting an art journal started, and I still havent, but thats what blogging is for isn't it?? Any hoo, here are some atc's I've done recently, they are sooooooooo addicting to do once you get started, I would love to trade some if any one is interested or I'd like to get some atc swaps started, I really haven't traded any yet and that's what they're for right?? I really like doing them in 3's and giving them as a Thank You gift with some of the collages I've been doing, I like to coordinate the atc with the collage, It's a lot of fun!!

Studio Space and Works in Progress

Hello! Over on my etsy cottage Blog I posted some photos of my little corner of the creative world and thought I'd better come on over to this one and do a similar one!! I find it sooooo neat to see where some of my favorite artists create their magic...Any Hoo my studio is pretty much a creepy spot int the basement right now, but it will become pretty over the next few months, I will post some progress of that when I can, In the meantime i do all of my work in the kitchen, the family doesnt mind eating dinner where ever they sit, and I get to make things in between dishes and breakfast!! LOL!
Can you tell that Halloween is already in my head?? It is slowly becoming a favorite holiday of mine, the smells, the sights,the jack o lanterns I love all of it, AND I have all summer to work on stuff!! I really LOVE this little guy!! he really needs to get finished I want to put him "in a pumpkin shell" and I will keep him very well!! Talk to you soon :)

This one is of the collage I did for Colleen ,my swap partner and hopefully new friend, I think she is soooooooo cute and reminds me of my beautiful niece Katie, I'll have to make her one! This is the little bird I sent I just LOVE these, the little eggs are handmade by moi with clay, then painted and speckled like a Robin's egg.How cute is that?? I just love how these turned out! Here are the two together!!Last but not least I made the cutest birds out of clay as little charms and hung them on sheer robin's egg blue ribbon. Well that's it I hope the swap is a success and I get to participate in some others, it was sooooooo fun!!

Lately I've been dreaming about the circus and how I will be able to incorporate it into my art work... I've stumbled upon some AWESOME web sites while doing a little research on traveling circuses and old time carnivals. Catherine Moore is such an inspiration to me and I just found her, Not only do we share the same name, only spelled different but I think if I knew her in real life not cyber life :) we would be good friends!! Also I came across a very inspirational site by the very talented Phee McFaddell her paper dolls and illustrated characters are Fantastic!! What do you suppose is inside this Beautiful Circus Wagon??? I hope to find out!! If any one has any great insights as to where I can find some more images and info on these beautiful carnival wagons I would love you to leave a comment, and check back in the future, I am in the process of creating something really great!! Also when I get more info I will post it here as well!! I have a sinking suspicion that I just found out what was going on in that Cole Brothers Traveling Circus Wagon!!

It's been a while...

OK, I know, I know its been a while since I've posted but as usual I've been busy with the day job and life in general, I have managed to get most of my items done for my vintage swap over on cottage etsy, and I've been making a few things here and there. A stupid cold has kept me in the BLAHS, but I'm taking my medicine, and fluids ,and rest, if that's what you want to call it!!Also I think I'm going to start creating an art journal, I totally understand why artists keep one I just never felt motivated to do it, but you know how it goes, once you start creating, the ideas come pouring in and I'm sick of having all these ugly pieces of notebook paper lying around.I write down an idea or draw little sketches of things and they literally are lying all over the house and it really needs to be more organized :( we'll see how that goes!! In the mean time I've been pondering what my next artistic endeavor will be, and I have a ton of things I wish I had time to make, so we'll go one at a time...
I want to make some tassels that look like vintage dresses and ball gowns like what Marie Antoinette wore or ones that look like Renaissance courtesans gowns ... That is what I want to wear with my hair all up and made to look like a huge bee hive filled with flowers and glitter and Aqua Net!!!

Little Strawberries

Here are a few of the little strawberries I've attempted to make!! I will go for the clay next, I think clay and glitter are really more my thing!! Isn't the little cupcake cute? How fun to do a craft that I really don't do very often(sewing) . The little bear is a pattern I got from Mohair Circus ( I believe) I just wanted to give it a try and it was pretty easy.I have a few more. I think I'm going to give them to my nieces

Here are some of the little things I've been working on!! With 2 feet, yes I said feet!! of snow falling this weekend what else is there to do? Oh yeah we also went sledding but did I remember to bring the camera?? I suppose Old Man Winter is not going to give up on us to easily this year, but with springing our clocks ahead last night I know spring is just around the corner!!
I will continue to keep researching the net for info on doing a swap, it is hard to find info on how to do it so if any one has any suggestions, Please e-mail me or leave a comment, I enjoy reading those any way!!

I came across this Lovely blog called Velvet Strawberries looking for pictures of you guessed it Velvet Strawberries!!! Actually they didnt have to be velvet, just the old fashioned pin cushion kind. I found so many different kinds and I made a few myself. I will get some pictures of the ones I did soon!! Also I really need to learn how to sew better... well I just need to do it more. I made this bunny one year ago but never finished her.I always intended to submit her to the magazine Art Doll Quarterly. I will have to part with it for quite some time but thats ok.
Sometimes I find that its hard to write once I'm on here posting throughout my day I have to write down everything I want to write about.

I think I finally am getting the hang of this! It's not as simple as I thought. I made another bunny and finished her with some cool vintage trim and cute little millinery flowers. I have other views but I'll get those up on my etsy shop as soon as thats up and running.Her little basket is sooooooooo sweet! I used cute little glass seed beads to create the handle and those carrots are the best!! The green tops are made with cool fun fur yarn!!
As soon as I figure out how to get some links to my favorite artist bloggers out there I think this will be so much fun!! There are so many inspirational artists out there. Cant wait to meet you all!!
